The Need for Nobility in Sports
As a culture there is a dramatic shift towards elitism whereby a disproportionate number of individuals wield an incredible amount of power relative to the majority of the population. Athletics disrupts these pyramidal power structures and affords a platform to engender enormous amounts of influence to all levels of the population. Thus, athletics needs a return to nobility. Athletics’ privileged status comes with the expectation to compete admirably and in a manner suitable to the eyes of the children and supporters who idolize athletes. Athletics are the controlled and measured expression of violence inevitable within the human condition. The height of humans biologically-ascribed and evolved power dictates expression of strength consistent with the highest levels of human respect and dignity. The Noble Athlete dominates and respects his competition.
